The information we have about The Sims 3 is quite old, PC Gamer and Games for Windows’ articles have been published a month ago already, and we haven’t had any official news since March 19th. In this period we have read many articles, magazines and stuff, both in Italian and not, about the next chapter of The Sims saga, and we have found a lot of mistakes and oversights, that gave rise to a lot of misunderstanding and illusions. Since we’d like to make things clear while waiting for further official news, here it is a list of the most noticeable mistakes we have found..

Weird but true, even the official website isn’t oversights-free! If we take a look at the information on the Italian page we will read a very promising news regarding the Create A Sim tools:

“Il nuovo tool di creazione dei personaggi, ancora più facile da usare, ti permetterà di personalizzare i tuoi Sims a tal punto da farli diventare unici. Stabilisci il peso e l'altezza del tuo Sim: sarà mingherlino, muscoloso o paffuto? Potrai scegliere fra ancora più opzioni la forma del viso, il colore della pelle, i capelli, il colore e la grandezza degli occhi e selezionare i suoi abiti ed accessori.”

(here is the original version: “New easy-to-use design tools allow for unlimited customization to make truly individual Sims. Determine your Sims' shape and size, from thin to full-figured to muscular - and everything in between! Choose your Sims' facial features, their exact skin tone, hair, eye shape and color and select their clothing and accessories.”)

But this translation is just wrong, because “Stabilisci il peso e l’altezza del tuo Sim” means “determine your Sims’ weight and height”, and we can see that height is nowhere mentioned.

We suppose, then, that there will be no height tool.

The article published on this website is one of the most interesting Italian article about The Sims 3, but it contains mistakes too. They report the same news about the commercial activities given in the PC Gamer article, but they probably didn’t noticed that in the original source Rod Humble was talking about Funky Business’ activities and not The Sims 3 ones.

We still don’t know anything about The Sims 3’’s shops and drugstores.

The Game Machine (

The article published on this Italian magazine reports some wrong news. First:

Sviluppatore: MAXIS (which means Developer: MAXIS)

This is a common mistake. MAXIS does not exist anymore, since it has merged in EA Games, and a Sims Division has been created for the development of The Sims project. Saying MAXIS is just a mistake.

Uscita: 2008 (Release date: 2008)

Wrong again. If you go on the official website you will read COMING IN 2009!

Talking about the open neighborhood, they say Sims will act like human beings without disappearing when going to work or stuff.

“Ovviamente tutti i Sims gestiti dal computer approfitteranno del “living neighborhood” per comportarsi finalmente come esseri viventi, senza scomparire nel nulla per andare a lavoro e senza apparire in tuta da ginnastica proprio di fronte alla porta di casa nostra.”

(Obviously, Sims will enjoy the open neighborhood and will act like human beings, without disappearing when going to work or appearing suddenly in front of our houses when going jogging)

This is a tricky news because, even if we don’t know the details of those interaction, it is sure that we will not be able to follow our Sims at work or school.

“Per sottolineare il cambio di gestione, tutto il complesso circo di Sims abbandona definitivamente Simville per trasferirsi in una nuova area chiamata Pleasant Valley.”

(To underline the importance of the new graphic engine, the whole Sims community will move from Simville to Pleasant Valley)

Simville what? What is that? There isn’t a neighborhood called like this, not in the Italian or the English version of the game (the available neighborhoods are Pleasantview, Veronaville, Strangetown plus, if you have Seasons and Free Time, Riverblossomhills and Desiderata Valley). Anyway the will not move from just ONE nhood, there are at least five of them (and you will know some news about them in the next lines!).

Well yes, I have made mistakes too. When writing my Italian article about TS3 I have taken my cue from PC Gamer’s article, and because of hurry I have translated the anyway wrong Pleasantville with Bellavista. I’m sorry about that.
