If you're not sure on which version of The Sims 3 Pets to purchase (PC/Mac or console), maybe this new article by can help you with your choice!

What Is It?

PC: Pets on PC/Mac is a proper disc expansion much like World Adventures or Late Night. There's a new town and obviously the addition of pets.

Console: The Sims 3 Pets for consoles is a separate disc game, complete with a new town and full set of Achievements and Trophies. Karma Powers are back with some new tricks, like one that turns all animals in the area feral and another that allows you to turn a pet into a human and vice versa. Another nice addition is that when your pet meets Death you can control its ghost until it completely passes on or you revive it. There's also a new feature - the Mystery Journal - which includes five puzzling situations (each mystery has multiple steps) to solve with some help from your furry friends. Finally, you can use Kinect's voice commands to control your Sims. Phew! That's a lot of stuff.

The New Digs

PC:The new city to explore has a mid-western theme. Herds of wild horses roam around and you can take a shot at taming them. There are also gnomes you can place in your yard that encourage strays & wild animals (like raccoons and deer) or prevent them from crossing your property line.

Console: The new town for consoles has more of a New England-in-the-fall vibe. No horses or strays here, but there are different features (see: What Is It? section).

Your New Best Friends

PC: Horses, cats & dogs. You can also purchase small animals like chinchillas, lizards, snakes, turtles, squirrels, etc. and you can interact with them, but not control them directly.

Console: Cats & dogs.

Putting Pets to Work

PC: There are no 'careers' available for pets, but they can make money. Horses can be entered in races, dogs can perform trick shows and cats can hunt down rare animals.

Console: Animals can be enrolled in careers. For example, cats can be cemetery ghost hunters, dogs can enroll in the police force and both species can serve as therapy pets.

Build A Pet

PC: Can only build adult animals.

Console: Can make babies (kittens or puppies), young adults or adults.

How Many Pets You Can Have

PC: You can have a maximum of 6 Pet Sims per household. You can have as many small critters as you can afford.

Console: You can have up to 5 Pet Sims. There's a max of 6 Sims per household and one must be a human.

...and you'll probably like this new screen of a pet's ghost!
