The first official patch for PC and MAC has been released. It fixes some issue such as activation/deactivation of story progression, speed problems, audio and music, and more. More info about issue solved with this patch can be found on the official website. Attention! You don't need to download a file from the official website. On the contrary of The Sims 2, you can download The Sims 3 patches only from The Sims 3 launcher. More info about patch installation here.
